Innovation - Electric cars

Scottish inventor Robert Anderson invents the first crude electric carriage powered by non-rechargeable primary cells. American Thomas Davenport is credited with building the first practical electric vehicle -- a small locomotive. French physicist Gaston Planté invents the rechargeable lead-acid storage battery. If electricity is 12 cents per kWh — the national average — it would cost $3.48 to go 100 miles. Another way to calculate cost is to use the number of kilowatt-hours it takes to recharge the EV's battery. If an EV requires 20 kWh to fully recharge and the rate is 12 cents per kWh, that's $2.40 to fill up the car . Battery electric vehicles, or BEVs, use electricity stored in a battery pack to power an electric motor and turn the wheels. When depleted, the batteries are recharged using grid electricity, either from a wall socket or a dedicated charging unit. ... The amount of pollution produced depends on how the electricity is made.
                                                             Importance of Setting Goals
Top-level athletes, successful business-people and achievers in all fields all set goals. Setting goals gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation . It focuses your acquisition of knowledge, and helps you to organize your time and your resources so that you can make the very most of your life.
When you set a goal for yourself you make yourself accountable to finish the task. This is in complete contrast with when you do things based off a whim and it doesn't matter whether you complete them or not.Goals tend to stick in your mind and if not completed they give you a "Shoot! I was supposed to do _____ today!" reminder. These reminders in the back of your head help you to overcome procrastination and laziness. The root of all the motivation or inspiration you have ever felt in your entire life are goals. Goal setting provides you the foundation for your drive. By making a goal you give yourself a concrete endpoint to aim for and get excited about. It gives you something to focus on and put 100% of your effort into and this focus is what develops motivation. Goals are simply tools to focus your energy in positive directions, these can be changed as your priorities change, new ones added, and others dropped.

What we know about Gordon Hayward’s injury

Less than six minutes into the 2017-18 NBA season, forward Gordon Hayward dislocated and fractured his left tibia in his Celtics debut. Here is how things unfolded Tuesday night in Cleveland and what we know about the injury: Kyrie Irving tossed an alley-oop to Hayward, with the Celtics leading, 12-9, and 6:45 remaining in the opening frame. Cavaliers star LeBron James came across the paint to contest the pass, and the two briefly got tangled in the air. When Hayward came down, his left foot hit first and contorted underneath him. Officials immediately stopped play and signaled for help. This injury is similar to Kevin Ware when his leg snap while coming down the air , this is the worst injury that a basketball player can ever go through .

Six Rules to Make People Like you. If you want people to like you.
Rule 1: Become genuinely interested in other people.
This is the number 1 rule on how to make people like you . Becoming genuinely interested in other people is one big step because it demonstrate that you care for other people . If people see that you care for them they would most likely like you as a person because we need people to talk to about what is going on with our life . Another way you can be genuinely interested in people can be by asking how was there day and by being friendly with them . If you want people to like you , you have to show a good first expression .
                                                                               Rule 2 : Smile
Rule number 2 on how to make people like you is by smiling , a smile can mean so many things like for example it can mean that you like that person as a friend and you are glad to see them . It is always important to slime because it is like a first impression to a person . It is important to smile every time enter someones house because it creates happiness in the home . A smile can lift a bad mood , by this i mean that if a person is not in a mood a smile can actually make that persons day .Just the simple act of putting a smile on your face can lead you to feel actual happiness, joy, or amusement and nothing you wear is more important than your smile .

                                                                               Rule 3 : Remember Names
Remembering someones name can be a way to make people like you because it would be a nice thing for someone to know that you took time to remember there name . Like for example if a new student came to your school and that student did not know anyone in the school he would feel left out . A way to make that student not feel like that anymore can be by remembering there name . This is also important because we feel more valued and respected when someone remembers our name .
Rule 4 : Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
Being a good listener is another way you can make people like you ,  If you aspire to be a good conversationalist, be an attentive listener. Listening skills are an important part of effective communication . A good listener is attentive. They make good eye contact, don't interrupt what the other person is saying and show an interest in what is being communicated.   A good listener does not check their phone or tablet in the middle of a conversation, when someone is sharing with them.
Being a good listener is more than just allowing the other person to speak and you being nearby. You have to take in what the person is saying and sometimes go deeper . A way to become a better listener by keeping in mind that listening is a win , tell yourself that you'll tell someone else about this convertaion later and by keep eye contact .
Rule 5 : Talk In terms of the other man's interest
Rule number five is talk in terms of the other man's interest , a example of this is " The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most " . This means to talk about thing that a person is interested in . A example I can give of this is if a person like basketball and is in to basketball you can talk to them about basketball , this is important because this is a way you can communicate with that person . If both of you guys have something in common then you can talk about the things you guys like , this can cause a better friendship and can lead the light up the future .
Rule 6 : Make the other person feel important--and do it sincerely.
What this rule means is that a way to make people like you is by making the other person feel important while doing it sincerely . A example is " The desire to be important is the deepest urge in human nature." (John Dewey)"Helping people feel important and appreciated works magic." A few other ways you can make others feel important is by  Showing  your appreciation for others. When you appreciate another person for anything that he or she has done or said, they will like themselves and you more as well. When you appreciate another person for anything that he or she has done or said, they will like themselves and you more as well. The simplest way to express appreciation is to simply say, “Thank you” for an idea, some good feedback, time spent together, or an order. Be agreeable. The most welcomed people in every situation are those who are generally agreeable and positive with others. Entrepreneurs who like to be argumentative, complaining, or disagreeable, will have a hard time closing a contract, investment, or a customer contract. Show your admiration. People invest a lot of personal emotion in their possessions, traits, and accomplishments. When you admire something belonging to another person, it makes him feel happy about himself. Everyone has positives, and it’s up to you to find them. In turn, these positives will be reflected back on you. Pay attention to others. The most powerful way to pay attention to someone is to listen attentively first, even ask questions, before you launch into a monologue answering every question they might never ask. Believe it or not, before you even say a word, you will become a more interesting and intelligent person in their eyes. Never criticize, condemn, or complain. In business as well as personal relationships, the most harmful force of all is destructive criticism. It lowers a person’s self-esteem, makes him feel angry and defensive, and causes him to dislike you. If your target is someone not present, it still causes a loss of trust in you, since your listener could be the next target. Be courteous, concerned, and considerate of everyone you meet. When you treat a person with courtesy and respect, they will value and respect you more. By being concerned, you connect with their emotions. Consideration is the discipline to do and say things to people that are important to them.

Reflection :

The six rules to make people like you are straight forward , by this I mean that they are common sense . My favorite quotes from these 6 rules is rule number 5 because it connects the people together and develop a special bond . It also brings the two persons together because they can relate to something they have in common . I strongly agree with these 6 rules of how to make a person like you , i feel like if i can relate to these rules because i follow every single one . I go by all these rules

                                                   NBA

This year NBA teams are overrated , they are mostly super teams . Who do you think will be the NBA champion this year? Well I believe that the Cavs will probably take the chip this year , they have added some stars to there line up and its scary . They will have a good starting five and they also will have a good bench , this allows for rest for Lebron James . Even though they lost there point guard , Kyrie . they replaced him with Isiash . They even added Dwade to there team . Lebron and Wade has a few chips together , this bring championship DNA to the team . Besides from Wade and Isaish they even added Derrick Rose , a former MVP .

The Six Attitudes Of High Achievers

1. High Achievers Make no small plans: Plan BIG
What this means is that high achievers set big goals and they dream big . They do not settle for  small goals . This means that they challenge themselves every day to react there big goals . A example of this can be by dreaming big , wanting to become better than everyone else and want more good thing for themselves . By this I mean is by thinking and imagining big , if you want a house why not go for a mansion ? If you dream of buying a house why not dream of buying 5 houses?

2. High Achievers do what they fear
High achievers must never fear in order to accomplish their goal. There's a difference between fear and prudence. Fear doesn't allow you to reach your full potential it doesn't enable you to be courageous. Although being prudent isn't fear at all its simply knowing when something is not beneficial to you physically or emotionally. It can be described as an act of assertion where fear is an act of being a cowardly. High achievers aspire to get to the top of the mountain of their goal even though they are afraid of heights. Fear is looking at that mountain and seeing its size and being intimidated by it.  Prudence is seeing its sharp peaks and walking up through a safer path. When being fearless and prudent means you climb the mountain either way but fear is you don't climb at all. Les Brown said  " To many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears." something high achievers need to remember and something fearful people need to learn .

3. High Achievers are willing to prepare
People who are willing to prepare are always on the right track to a more better life. Being prepared shows that you are read to handle any situation that might come at you. Whether it be a small as a pop quiz or even as big as a natural disaster, those who are willing to prepare will always know how to handle situations in any shape or form they come. It is important to prepare because it creates a determined and correct mind set on how to deal with things, those who choose to wing everything and not prepare are less likely to succeed because they are not ready to tackle issues and situations that might come their way. They are likely to quit fast. ''There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure," Collin Powell

4. High Achievers are willing to risk failure
High achievers are willing to do anything even if it means failure they would have to go through. sacrifices in order for the high achievers to learn more. It's all about risking and knowing what to do instead of fearing and not risking. High achievers want to learn more and how will they not know more if they don't go ahead and risk failure. It's sometimes good to risk because fearing failure tends to stop the risk but if you go for it, it's not going to be failure it's going to be success. Success comes from failure, You can't learn unless you know. It's mot about the failure it's about the lesson and what you learn from failure. I take failing as a lesson so when the time comes I can be prepared. People take it as a lesson to improve on, where they see where they went wrong and improve and try their best and work hard. Those people are the people that are called high achievers. Anyone can be a high achiever like me I risk on failing because I know that I'm going to learn from my mistake and take a step forward and succeed. There is no wrong answers in life, just new lessons.

5. High Achievers are teachable
This means that achievers are teachable and that they will be able to teach what they learn and explain clearly . A example of a teachable student is when a student takes not , pays attention to what is being taught , is willing to apply what they learned , and has a positive outlook . A achiever also has to be desire to grow around people and have a positive outlook .

6 . High Achievers have a heart .
This means that high achievers have a heart and that they care about others and what goes on around them . High achievers have a heart for what they do, they are driven off passion and heart for what they do. They do what they do because they have a strong and big love for what they do, they enjoy doing it. Having a heart for what you enjoy doing guides people to success and high achieving because they will never slack off or not perform well in what they are doing. Having a heart doesn't necessarily just apply to success, having a heart can also benefit yourself because it shows others that you care about something or them, it doesn't make you a selfish and greedy person, having a heart means that you are willing to extend your hand for someone else without second guessing yourself. "Put your heart, mind, and soul into even your smallest acts. This is the secret of success. Swami Sivananda.
